|Description:||This is a management position offered by Way Station, Inc., requiring general and specific knowledge of mental health, developmental disabilities and community programming methods. Primary responsibility is to assist the Director in managing the delivery of services, staff supervision, and staff training. The job involves the supervision, administration and evaluation of the Day Programs. This is a salaried position. The Manager of Day Program Services is expected, through training and experience, to exercise independent judgment with the supervision of the Director of Howard County Adult Services.|
|Duties:||•Provide assistance to Director in all aspects of on-site programming.|
•Assure clients are engaged in the day program activities to the greatest degree possible.
•Support Way Station's management structure through effective and appropriate use of the organizational structure and the roles assigned to its managers.
•Monitor smooth day-to-day operation of program activities and service delivery to clients.
•Assume responsibility for assessing, coordinating, and implementing service planning needs of clients assigned to designated program area.
•Insure coordinated services to WSI clients through effective interface with various program components and with external service providers.
•Develop, manage, and evaluate financial transactions of the designated program area.
•Participate in team meetings weekly and attend other management meetings as assigned.
•Provide oversight of the hiring process, training and ongoing supervision and evaluation of day program staff. Assist staff with plans to enhance professional growth, including external and internal training and education.
•Promote effective relationships among clients, families and service providers.
•Coordinate planning for organization-wide celebrations as assigned.
•Develop and maintain policies and procedures regarding Day Program services.
•Develop and manage the budget for Day Program, and monitor utilization, revenue, and costs.
•Establish and monitor implementation of safety and cleanliness standards in the Day Program.
|Qualifications:||•Knowledge of current theories of contributing factors in and effects of mental illness/ developmental disabilities.|
•Knowledge of current effective approaches being used to assist persons with mental illness/developmental disabilities and skills in facilitating community integration.
•Ability to establish and maintain empowering, trust relationships with WSI clients and their families.
•Ability to supervise, train, and consults with staff.
•Ability to provide leadership.
•Ability to conduct group meetings with clients, staff, and significant others to facilitate problem solving.
•Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner, orally and in writing.
•Ability to perform individual assessment, planning, and implementation in both structured and unstructured settings.
•Ability to work with others as part of an interdisciplinary team.
•Skill in time management and organization of job activities.
•Ability to guide effectively the assessment of member service needs and organize appropriate interventions in a wide range of staff and member interact ional situations.
•Ability to assist in the development of and manage portions of WSI's program budget.
•Knowledge of the roles and scopes of practice of physicians, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists.
•Possession of a bachelor’s degree in related field or an associates degree and work experience which uniquely qualifies the individual for the job.
•Two years positively referenced relevant work experience including supervisory experience.
